Monaco is noted for its casinos, Grand Prix and being right on the Mediterranean Sea. The only hotel in this small nation that has its own private beach on the ocean is Le Meridien Beach Plaza.
While there are many reasons to enjoy Le Meridien, the most notable is the hotel’s private beach. Guests simply have to walk out the back deck of the hotel and down some stairs and find themselves on the sand, surrounded by chaise lounges and just steps from the water. The only decision that has to be made is whether to lounge in the sun, dive into the waves, get a drink and snacks from Alang Bar located right on the beach, have a massage right there, relax in a private hut or set up an appointment to go jet skiing or try other water sports.
After a dip in the salt water, head just steps away to fresh water in both indoor and outdoor pools.
Another option just steps off the beach is eating fresh seafood at L’Intempo Restaurant, one of many fine Restaurants in Monaco. The place is open 24 hours per day, every day, but one of the best times to visit is during lunch, when a live cooking stand serves up fresh seafood to go along with other tasty offerings. L’Intempo also has a cocktail lounge, where guests can relax and enjoy a drink.
During the summer, Muse Restaurant opens up to offer beautiful views of the Mediterranean while guests enjoy gourmet creations. For those who want to learn recipes for themselves, Le Meridien offers both food and wine classes in the evenings.
Part of the fun in staying at a Le Meridien hotel is that just being there is an artistic experience. Le Meridien’s “Unlock Art” program means that art is present throughout the hotel. For example, at the Beach Plaza, the elevator is more than just a way to get form one floor to another. The elevator has special lights, decorated walls and a soundtrack that plays to help create an overall effect for the rider.
Even the room keys have an artistic design and are also a “pass” for discounts and admissions at nearby art museums and programs.
Rooms and Suites
The Beach Plaza has over 400 rooms and suites, with 70 percent of them having views of the Mediterranean Sea while others overlook Monaco and Avenue Princess Grace. Options range from traditional hotel rooms to suites, including the Presidential Suites, located on the top floor of the hotel and providing a panoramic view of the ocean.
